Story:

https://www.everythinglubbock.com/ne...ions-continue/

I don’t want to seem like I’m repeating the same post, but this view is from the opposite angle, and you can see the campus and even a tiny part of the new $15M baseball clubhouse in the background (look for the aqua-colored thing on the top-right, in between the Frazier Alumni Pavilion and Rip Griffin Park):

(Thanks to the photographer.)

The area of the demo project where they have the hose on the far-right side of the pic is where the Tech football team would enter the stadium before the game. In ‘24, the team should have a fancier entrance.

Default New (higher quality) renderings

Quote:
According to Texas Tech, the university continues to fundraise for the project with a goal of $100 million, of which $87 million is already committed.
I think that Hocutt said yesterday that the raised amount could soon be closer to $90M in the next week or so. He also said that the total budget is now $204M.

Other parts of the campus aren’t being ignored because of this, as illustrated by the Academic Sciences Building, some planned extensive renovations, and this:

Breaking: Texas Tech System Regents have approved the design and planning of a new residence hall on the Tech campus. The anticipated cost of the new hall will cost $38 million and house around 300 beds.

Tower Crane going up at Jones AT&T! #WreckEm

Suddenly more activity there. Noticed last week that the towers will be going up directly on top of the ramps, which should be interesting to look at when finished.

(Robert Giovannetti/Texas Tech Athletics)

You can see the beginnings of the foundation piers: the wiry cylindrical things with the square white objects on top. They go deep underground. To the left of the photo stand completed piers that extend 30 feet or so. The large pipes will (I’d assume) be used for drainage.

That said, this was announced on Thursday:

https://texastech.com/news/2023/4/13...ed-lights.aspx

Quote:
As part of its continued football renovations, Texas Tech will install a new artificial playing surface to Jones AT&T Stadium beginning this summer as well as a new LED lighting system. Both projects were approved by the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents during its scheduled meeting this past February.
Also, this was mentioned in the article:

Quote:
In addition to approving both the LED lighting system and a new playing surface, the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents voted to increase the athletics department's budget for the ongoing south end zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project to just under $220 million.

The roughly $20 million budget increase was determined after further discussions with the athletics department's design firm, Populous, on the long-term plan for the facility, which included moving the visitor's gameday locker room to the northeast corner of the stadium. Texas Tech continues to fundraise for the project – the largest facility investment in athletics history – with a current goal of more than $100 million, of which more than $90 million is already committed.

Also, Coach McGuire has agreed to climb up one of the tower cranes in the near future.
