Haha, I was thinking the same thing for a while, but the projects are needed. The Marsha Sharp Freeway is needed because of the growth in the southwest part of town. The expansion of the NW Loop and the extension of North Slide is needed because of the growth in the northwest part of town. The repairs to 34th Street are desparately needed. It's not good timing, but it's just coincidence.

I'd rather see these construction projects going on instead of nothing at all. It's an inconvenience now, but it will be well worth it when these projects are done. I'm used to it here in D/FW, as it's a regular thing, so I deal with this all the time. Lubbock will get through this with no problem.

It wasn't until I spoke with someone who actually works with road construction that I understood some - not all, but some - of this kind of thing.

Seems that in order for a road to be built properly, you have to do a certain part, then wait for things to settle properly (and this can't be hurried), THEN do the next part - otherwise, the road will deteriorate and need to be re-done much sooner than it otherwise would need to be. So they'll get one project to that stage and move on and work on another one while the first one is doing its thing, then go back and do the next stage on that one when it's ready.

This wherever the road is being built.
