Hi, I am planning on moving into Lubbock for the summer in order to take summer courses at Texas Tech. Unfortunately I am having a hard time finding rentals for merely the summer-- I do not want to take on a 6 or 12 month lease. Ideally, the residence will be close to Tech and cost $500 or less per month. Any suggestions?

Hmmm... There might be something in South Overton (bounded by Broadway, University Ave., 19th St., and Ave. Q) or the neighborhood bounded by 19th, University, 34th, and Ave. Q (the name escapes me right now). Tech Terrace and Overton Park tend to be more expensive. It's not ideal for preparedness purposes, but I suspect more will start opening up the closer it gets to the end of the semester when many of the students start vacating their rentals. Hope this helps some and good luck with your search.

You can try looking on craigslist. Lots of garage/back house apartments that are rented out to college students. Many of them leave for the summer. I'm sure you can find something but you have to keep looking. You might also want to look at room shares. Several people on craigslist in Lubbock have homes where they will rent out a room or rent to share a home.
