"We put in what the skaters asked for in the first phase, which is what they call an urban skate," Murphey said. "Rails and steps and those kinds of things. The next phase will be a bowl that will have an opportunity to provide competition down here."
Williams said other projects include $2.5 million in renovations to Luther Williams Field to support the new Coastal Plains League baseball team.
"We're putting in new concessions areas with new bathrooms, a barbecue, a barbecue house down one field line, and a corporate cabana down the other," Murphey said.
Finally, a long awaited $2.2 million senior center funded by the 2012 SPLOST will be completed in 2019. It'll be over 10,000 square feet and house a stage and computer lab, among other things.
