Why does Atlanta really need a second airport anyway? HJAIA is just fine and expanding. It’s also important for Atlanta’s Delta as a hub and headquarters.

What Atlanta and the state of Georgia really need to work on is rail/commuter rail and (something NIMBYs of North Georgia scoff at) an outer perimeter.

Agreed 100%.

There are only 2 types of people advocating for a 2nd Atlanta airport:

1. Those in Atlanta's northern suburbs who hate the thought of ever having to go south of the city.

2. Those in Georgia's secondary cities who believe it would lead to massive spinoff economic growth that they otherwise wouldn't be able to attract.

That being said, I know a ton of people who would consider settling in places like Macon or Columbus if they could hop on a 200 MPH bullet train that would get them to/from their high-paying jobs in Atlanta at an affordable price.
