We have a couple of projects on the board right.

I sure hope the P&Z board does not mess this up. Macon urgently needs growth and investment. Every time we seem to get a new project the board always stalls until the investors eventually pull the deal from the table.

I think the theater idea is a slam dunk as long as parking is planned for and in that area a big surface lot isn't needed or wanted, but some plan will need to be in place. As far as apartments go...all new apartments are tagged luxury. Need to see the developers track record. Nice apartments today become the "mediocre" apartments of 20 years from now. The "mediocre" apartment today will be a low income unit in 20 years. Make sure they are actually nice when they're built to buy more time before the likely deterioration into unwanted units.

Yea I understand and agree. I just hope we can avoid deferring these projects. We've lost out on maybe 3 to 4 huge projects just because the P&Z board weird picky issues. Macon as a city needs to realize that growth will come as long you allow it to.

Over 500 luxury apartments to break ground on Riverside Drive

https://wgxa.tv/news/local/five-hund...-come-to-macon

The First Complex

Plans were presented for seven four-story apartment buildings. Units would range from one to three bedroom apartments. In total, it would result in 280 new residential units on the complex.

“They’re going to be market rate apartments, but they’re going to be high end, kind of luxury," added Charlie Hand, the owner of Hand Development Company.

In addition to the hundreds of units, the complex would include a resort-style pool, a leasing office with a gym, a playground, a dog park, and walking trails around the complex.

The Second Project
Several buildings would eventually add up to 276 units. All the units in this complex would be two bedrooms.
