Good discussion. My wife is in a state nurses union and we are wondering whether we should continue to voluntarily pay the union dues once her contract expires in 2014. Right now the perceived benefit for her remaining in the union is very low, but we still need to educate ourselves more on the issue.

I do like discussions, but unfortunately some boards/admins/mods with political agendas don't allow that. So far, it appears not to be the case here.

If your wife is an RN, she should be very well of and very in demand. RNs are told by their unions to quit their jobs every two years, due to demand for RNs. This way, they can be hired on "new" at the higher, prevailing wage.

So...stay as a union lackey or come back at higher pay and not be extorted by democrat unionists? If I were her, I'd always send "feelers" out there for advancement as unions only want her money.

She needn't be a slave the the democrat unionist plantation.
