I'll be looking in Waunakee for a 1 bedroom apartment for less than $800/ month. Does anyone know of any areas to avoid or have any recommendations?

I'm planning on driving around to get a feel for the neighborhoods but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Wanted to stop by just long enough to say that I'm not ignoring your questions, I just don't know an awful lot about Waunakee neighborhoods and apartments. I'll ask around tomorrow; a couple of co-workers live in the area and I might be able to get some recommendations to pass along.

I don't really think there is a bad area of Waunakee, but it does tend to be a pricey place to live. People say Waunakee has excellent schools, but to me Waunakee feels very isolated and far from every place I would want to be.

You could possibly live in an apartment on Madison's Northeast side. There would be more choices for likely cheaper rent than Waunakee. The area is probably not as new, but it's not as isolated either.

The northeast side is less expensive, but primarily section 8 housing.
