I'd say someone is just p*ssed off and went on a rampage.

Craigslist does attract a certain amount of nutters and agitators - some people like to post something incendiary just to get others worked up. I get personal abuse there and I've learnt to simply ignore it.

We have a saying "Don't feed the trolls" because they thrive on attention.

When the name of the forum there is "rants and raves," you have to expect it will attract ranters and ravers.

It's too bad we don't see some more spirited debates here. I guess Madison must be perfect and have solved all of its problems by now.

Thanks for the reality check, folks. Too true, Bowie, people who rant and rave are pretty much just venting and uninterested in debate. Being in the process of moving to Madison next summer, the craiglist rants and raves had me temporarily panicking. Do you remember The Invasion of the Body Snatchers? But I can see now that this kind of stuff is not representative. Just as the NYC rants and raves are in no way representative of the views of most New Yorkers. lol

Madison, while being far from perfect, is my kind of perfect imperfection. I will be celebrating the New Year there soon. Four glorious days to remind me why I am moving.

Please don't judge us by the CL R&R section. There used to be some interesting debate on there, but in the last year or two things have gone down hill really fast. Just a bunch of whiners and trolls.

Hi Megan1967. No way would I judge all of Madison based on the rantings of a few. I did panic there for a moment. Moving jitters, cold feet, yadda yadda. But I am going to trust my own experience, intuition, and observations. Remember, I lived in Madison for six years, and I have been back there three times since. I think the craigslist rants are a little shocking to me because the people I have connected with in Madison myself hold such radically different viewpoints from the kind of whining and trolling we find on CL.

Default rants and raves

My observation is that Madison in general just discovered rants and raves about four years ago. Before then only a few posters would bother. What is likely going on is a number of bored drunks (1/3 of the population here) discovered it and post nearly every other day.
