Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has any resources that project the economic and population growth of Madison in the next ten years and project what will happen to property values/costs and the cost of living over that period.

Also, would you consider Madison a place with a highly transient population? It would seem the University and the comparatively growthful economy would promote this, but is there a sense of old, rooted community in Madison?

Thanks

Madison's has a tract record of having slow but consisten growth over time. Property values tend to rise steadily...and national trends (booms and busts) are less pronounced here as well. Madison is an expensive place to live in general for the Midwest and that will prbably never change.

Madison is transient thanks to the government, university and just the fact that the country is very mobile in general, but there are certainly PLENTY of natives that are locals.

The main thing is, a lot of people move away for X reason. Some come back, some don't. Others relocate here. I would say overall that Madison is very mixed in this sense.

Here's a report I found from the state archives:

Wisconsin Population Projections: 2000-2030

According to this, Madison's population growth will be fairly modest (reaching around 255,000 in 2025), but Dane County's growth will be a bit more robust.
