Hi everyone!

Wanted to know the best vacation spot from your opinions...

What we are looking for is something relaxing, maybe even somewhere on a bay where you can wake up and watch the sunrise or watch the sunset, or going on a morning or evening canoeing ride.

Just want to enjoy Maine and all it has to offer!

Thanks so much!

The whole state is called Vacationland for a reason. Every part of Maine has something to offer and one place is not necessarily "better" than another....just different. We have coast, lakes, mountains, rivers, highlands, potato fields, forests you name it it's here. You won't go wrong anywhere in Maine.

My Dad still shakes his head at spending money for us kids to run around in the "Desert of Maine."

Mount Desert isn't a desert. There really is a desert in Maine. It's on my list of places to go.

The Desert of Maine is in Freeport. It is kind of a fun diversion if you are passing through that way but I wouldn't call it a "destination". If you are in Freeport however, and want a lovely place to walk some easy trails and have a picnic. Check out Wolfsneck State Park, which is about 5 miles from the shopping district and has some lovely waterfront. Head out Bow street and you will see signs after a mile or 2 off to the right leading you to the State Park.
