We are taking RV to Nova Scotia and will return through Maine. Last trip we stayed in Bar Harbour and thoroughly enjoyed it. They are so pet friendly and it was a great place to visit.

This year we thought we would stay in a different town, coastal, quaint, pet friendly. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You might try Eastport - they have 2 campgrounds, pet friendly, coastal and quiet.

Default Harris' Cabins, Harris Point, Eastport

Where we just stayed at Harris' they charge $5 per dog, per day. It is rustic though, not a swanky place!

Default Great Visit: Boothbay, Camden & Yarmouth

Thanks for the recommendations, we have had a great time in Maine. People have been so friendly and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. In Boothbay we saw a long line for RED's EATS and ended up standing in line for almost 45 minutes. VERY DISAPPOINTED...next night went to SPRAGUE's LOBSTERS, in Wiscasset, right before the bridge over the Sheepscot River on 1 N. WOW, a great lobster dinner (1 lb. lobster, 1 lb. clams, corn on the cob, coleslaw and a roll) $21.95 EXCELLENT! Nothing fancy, cash only, eat at picnic tables or take home, but ate there several nights.

We went to Camden and absolutely loved the area. Plan to return in September and next year. Beautiful place.

Went to the Yarmouth Clam Festival and it had a lot of really nice arts and craft vendors. Was a bit disappointed as they were not pet friendly, with signs up saying, "no pets." So we couldn't eat there and instead stopped at this little place called CINDY'S on US 1 in Freeport (Cindy's, at www.WeLoveClams.com). YUM! Nothing fancy but fresh, delicious food. The chowder was heaven and the fried claims and onion rings to die for.

We will definitely return to Maine because I can never get too much lobster!

I've gone through Wiscasset a lot of times on our fall vacations and there was always a line at Red's. One lucky day there wasn't so we stopped and had an early lunch. I'd say it was better than fair to middlin, possibly even good. But I ain't about to stand in line for more than about 10 minutes - anywhere!

Don't know if the Ocean View Park at Popham is pet friendly. None of the sites I've researched mention it one way or the other. So I'm assuming not. But it is on one nice stretch of sand about 18 miles south of Bath. Might be worth giving them a call. 389-2564
