OK, after some research I have pretty much confirmed that what I have is Powdery Mildew. I have also discovered that milk, in a ratio of 1:9 with water, sprayed weekly, is an effective solution. I think I prefer this over boiling garlic.

we store tomatoes in freezer around 30 gal. ziplocks or more first we get a pan of boiling water going place 4-5 tomatos (ripened) in it for a bit maybe 2 minutes you'll find out when ya take them out the skin will fall off in your hand split open tomato clean out seeds and core place in ziplock fill to top keep the bag open until cool close let stand on side board for a little longer till cool then freeze them and if your matoes are pink or yellow you can ripen them inside we got a table full of them place news paper down first then arrange tomatoes close to each other cover with news paper keep eye on them daily we started 300 plants this winter and set them all out got tons make up for the past 2-3 years we didnt have the weather for them

thank you for the freezing info. was told last night that if there is a frost coming and i have tomatoes on the vine, to pull up the whole plant, root and all and hang it upside down in the garage. The tomatoes will ripen that way. Anyone try this?

I tried that a few years back we had a bunch of matos still dark green and the size of softballs on the plants and they were yakking we were gonna get a big frost that next morning so i went and pulled up all my mato plants but i didnt hang them . laid them under my big maple tree and threw a heavy tarp over them well we didnt get that heavy frost and the tomatoes sat on the plant for 2 weeks and started to shrivel up instead of ripen we got maybe a bushel out of all of them now i just go to my plants when i want the matos to ripen, I cut off any flowers or new growth and grab the plant by the bottom stem and give it a slight yank till i hear some roots snaps and that gets them going to ripen or stick in a spade shovel bout 4" away from base and step on it all the way to roots ...happy gardening

I disrupt the roots too. This weekend I'm going to permanently disrupt the tomatoes outside by turning them into organic matter with the tractor's tiller. I've been picking since June. I'm tired of tomatoes.
