Lightyears ahead??? Those countries are all broke! Greece is on the verge of social upheaval. If anything we should take the European model as a sign for destruction and do the exact opposite! Anyone who thinks the government can run a better healthcare system than the one currently in place is a fool!

Since World War 2 and the Marshall Plan, we have basically picked up most of the tab for their self defense. Hence, hardly any budgeted defense spending on their part. WE are NATO! WE were the ones ready to engage 40,000 Soviet tanks spilling out of the Comblock.

This circumstance alone, allowed them to spend billions on social engineering projects, creating the utopian experience the Liberal Progressives are so fond of.

I've got a French battle rifle for sale. Mint condition, never been fired, only dropped once.

I hear you. I thought the same way until the wife became ill. Now, the kicker is this.....soon after her diagnoses insurance companies fought not to cover her medical expenses for years. They truly treated her like a wrecked automobile, haggling over this and that constantly. Their behavior was exactly what you'd expect from an insurance company, whether it be car and or home insurance, but, in this case someone's life.... the bottom line, money. They finally found a way to dump us both. So, stay healthy.

I have lived in the UK and while there I was treated within their NHS.

I have also lived in Italy. While there I was never treated in their Ospitales but I did have opportunity to spend time in a few of their Ospitales. [After fire-bombings and/or vehicle accidents that include unidentified victims, if any patient is wearing underwear with English printing then US law Enforcement is called in to help establish the identity / nationality of the patient. Which was my role each time that I stood in an Ospitale].

Few would ever honestly 'brag' about European health care. It is ran by their governments, filled with bureaucrats and the inefficiencies that socialist governments are known for.

If you are upper-class and have your own money then you can buy for yourself high-grade medical care. Otherwise you face long waits for limited facilities; and every resource-draining protocol is administrated based upon your perceived value to the society.

Greece has been around for thousands of years and is not going to fall off the edge of the earth and get eaten by dragons anytime soon. Greece did have some liberal retirement plans for sure such as retiring at fifty. Rest assured the US politicians are going to have those healthy young American wipper-snappers retire at 70 soon enough since the average American lives to be 250 years old now, and obese on top of it all. Just because the rest of the world handles their healthcare delivery different in contrast to the US does not mean destruction to the world. The US, which is broke, which has one of the worst healthcare delivery systems in the world where profit, a magnitude no nation has ever seen in history, is the only motivator of delivering of said healthcare. The 3% profit margin thrown about is propaganda. It's more like 1/3 of the cost of healthcare, now, in modern times. This is not sustainable and will never be. So, for those who enjoy getting screwed every month by UnitedHealthCare enjoy because their time will end with-in the next decade when Obama's plan breaks every American making the rest of the modern world look brilliant while we look to be the fools and suckers.

Then you know that the UK has a different delivery than Germany, for example. Italy and the UK are not the nations one would pick to emulate.

Obama's stupid health plan will be repealed. When over 70% of the populace has something rammed down their throats they do not want, it will not stand. A dozen states are now suing to opt out of Obama's socialist medical plan. It will be found unconstitutional to FORCE anyone to purchase something just because the govermnent thinks it's a good idea. Many more states will follow. Not Maine as it is filled to the rafters with people on the dole collecting something from Uncle Sam or the State. It's far past the time for the people of this nation to stand up to the gutless politicians hiding under Nancy Pelosi's skirt. If you want free health care move to Canada.
The fight over this issue will go well beyond the 2012 election when President Palin will sign the repeal.

The quote being addressed was:
"The Europeans are lightyears ahead on the Health care front,".

Of course each nation within Europe figured out entirely new and interesting methods of how to screw up the concept.

I have heard about Germany, though I have never been stationed there enforcing US law. Personally [in the contest of discussing European methods] I have only lived in the UK and Italy; so I can only speak about how badly they screw it up in their systems of health care.

The Obama's plan will not last, I'm sure. But, the money grubbing shameful system we have now is not going to last long either. So, what to do?

Well, if president Palin is able to repeal Obamacare, she had better have a viable alternative to replace it with. Based on her previous track record, I am not hopeful.

So what? It will be back to the old, financially unsustainable system? That's an industry where the bubble that ready to burst. I wonder if President Palin will bail out the insurance industries?
