In search for a unique Maine wedding location . . . .

I am an artist/sculpture and my boyfriend is a Luther – makes electric guitars from exotic woods. Needless to say we are not the traditional banquet wedding types.

We both are in love with Portland and Maine – and eventually looking to move there! In the meantime we feel that Maine is the place….

Neither of us is for the traditional wedding. Or ideal wedding would be dusk on a farm or in a barn – with close family and friends. With an oysters bar, great burgers from the Grill Room and a beer bar with stocked with Allagash, DogFish, Shipyard … this list could go on and on. Oh! and miniature ice cream cup cakes. While I’m dreaming if Ray LaMontagne could come on over and with the The Pariah Dogs well then – that’s a party.

Any way these are a few of favorite things – if anyone know a place I would be love to hear about it…..

I once attended a wedding at sunday river- went up by ski lift- the scenery was awesome- even tho it rained a bit

you could go out to any of the maine islands and have a wedding there- there's an island just off boothbay harbor (cabbage island) they have tour boats that visit the island and have lobsterbakes there-and i believe they host weddings
there is a building with a full bar inside- in case it rains

My wife and I did an outdoor wedding on the bank of a river, not far from a covered bridge- she arrived in a horse-drawn carriage while I and the best man arrived on horseback (after a nice ride up the mountain on one side of the river, then crossing over and coming down the other side).

Being at the end of May we were gambling a bit on weather and blackflies, but everything turned out perfectly. (And we had made arrangements for a 'Plan B' just in case, but we didn't need it.)

Aside form not being at a function hall that doesn't sound that untraditional. It sounds nice. Congrats on your engagement.

It's been awhile but I remmebr the Unity/Ablion China area to be quite nice with a few barns here or there.
