That can't be right..
If we're talking about the same grocery store that is, and assuming my family members are the ones who bought it from your grandparents..
My aunt and uncle poured money into the place, including adding two bedrooms to the living quarters above the store. They ended up losing their ass. It was far from condemned when they sold it.
It was their understanding that Joe Jenkins ended up with it and tearing it down for a parking area.
