My grandparents built a lovely home right across the street and now some new owners are there and have fixed it up beautifully. Green lake was a busy hopping place in the 70s 80s - it's a beautiful lake.

That can't be right..If we're talking about the same grocery store that is, and assuming my family members are the ones who bought it from your grandparents..

My aunt and uncle poured money into the place, including adding two bedrooms to the living quarters above the store. They ended up losing their ass. It was far from condemned when they sold it.

It was their understanding that Joe Jenkins ended up with it and tearing it down for a parking area.

I spent a lot of time at Jenkins Beach in the late 50's. That is where my girlfriend (now my wife of 52 years) went swimming. I also remember that the city of Bangor had a beach much further up the lake. They would bus the children from Bangor each week for a day of swimming and fun. (That was in the early 50's) I have only been back once, but I have been looking online for cottages on the lake. Some are reasonable, others not so much. I do know that there are cottages that you can rent if that is what you're looking for. GOOD LUCK!

I almost bought it in the '90's and, as I recall, there were septic questions (among other things) and she was in pretty rough shape. Teeny tiny parcel of land abutting the water. Jenkins Beach. Chris Ruby, the "Driver Ed Teacher to the Stars" lived across the street when I was a kid. Jenkins was a teacher in the local schools. The kids all had him. There was nothing out by Violence Landing (a 1970's nom du jour only).
