Two 14 year old girls involved in a stabbing. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I haven't seen it.

Quote:
WATERVILLE — A group of three teenagers were involved in the recent stabbing of a city taxicab driver, police said Friday.

The disclosure came following the arrests this week of the final two suspects.

Police made the first arrest Saturday when a 14-year-old girl admitted she had stabbed the cab driver twice in a botched robbery attempt, but she refused to identify her accomplices.

According to Police Chief Joseph Massey, a second 14-year-old girl was arrested by police on Monday. The girl provided police with information that helped identify the male that had been in the car with them, Massey said. The names of both girls were withheld by police because of their ages.

On Friday, Michael A. Damron Jr., 18, of 4 Sherwin St., was arrested at Waterville Senior High School, where he is a senior.

“They’re all friends,” Massey said. “They hung around together.”

All face felony charges of robbery and elevated aggravated assault.

“I’m very pleased we were able to solve this crime,” Massey said Friday. But, “it’s kind of striking when we have a crime committed with that level of violence and 14-year-old females are involved.”

Although the first girl admitted to doing the stabbing, police aren’t “100 percent sure” that’s so, Massey said.

“The first 14-year-old was very detailed in what she did, with so much detail that it really led us to believe she was the stabber,” Massey said, “but there are now conflicting stories about who actually did the stabbing. The stories differ somewhat between the three of them as to who actually did what.”

Police said the unnamed driver, who works for G’s Taxi, picked up three people in a parking lot beside 69 Water St. late Wednesday, Dec. 1, and drove them to Willow Street, which is a short, dead-end street near College Avenue, also known as U.S. Route 201.

The driver told police that one of the passengers grabbed him from behind around the throat and he was then stabbed twice. The driver honked his horn, sending the three people running from the cab, and he drove to the Cumberland Farms convenience store on College Avenue to report the stabbing at 11:27 p.m.

The driver, who was released from MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Campus the next day, initially told police that he thought the passengers were two dark-skinned males and a young female.

Police said they received a tip from the public that led them to identify the first 14-year-old girl, who had no stable place to live and also had two outstanding warrants for her arrest. The second girl also did not have a stable home, according to Massey.

Both girls were staying at separate apartments in the city and are now being held at the Mount View Youth Center, a juvenile detention facility in Charleston.

Damron was taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta and was being held on $100,000 cash bail.

Massey said police did not have any further insight into the failed robbery, which the first 14-year-old girl said was her idea.

The only sad part was the taxi driver suffered physical harm. Fourteen is plenty old enough to know right from wrong. I don't care how "unstable" their situation was they were trouble makers with a rap sheet already at 14. When they start that young having no regard for harming a human being they should be locked up for a long time.
They will have a nice stable place to live now.....juvenile detention.
The 18 year old should get 5 years in prison.

It's sad and disturbing! If i were the judge, id send a pointed message to these criminals

If it were my kid-yes, id be terribly embarrassed, but if i couldnt handle him/her-then id want the courts to send a clear message-severe consequences to actions-and if my kid was on drugs, and wouldnt listen to me-again-id want the judge to send a stern message

This is a serious and growing problem. If you drive through any of the towns along the Kennebec in Central Maine (Gardiner, Augusta, Waterville, Skowhegan) you will see groups of young people just "hanging out."

Once I was with my family at the Gardiner waterfront and there were some teenager there taking a swim. The profanities that were flying were so bad we had to leave.

The lack of family stability seems to be a growing epidemic in these economically-challenged towns.

There's been a growing number of home invasions in Maine, from the news reports I've seen.

There's a story about a home invasion suspect in today's Bangor Daily News: Probe into home invasion leads to additional charges for incarcerated man - Bangor Daily News (http://www.bangordailynews.com/story/Greater-Bangor/Probe-into-home-invasion-leads-to-additional-charges-for-incarcerated-man,163746 - broken link)

On Dec. 14, two men knocked on the door of the Newton Street residence and asked for help, saying their car had broken down. One of them then tried to break in but was fought off by the homeowner, police say.
A husband and wife who were not identified reside in the home, Bangor police Sgt. Chip Hodges said at the time of the crime. The 911 call for help was made around 6 p.m. Dec. 14.

“The call came from her while he was having the altercation with the intruders,” Hodges said.

The two men “told the resident that their car had broken down and they needed to use a telephone,” the sergeant said. “When the resident reached inside to get a portable phone, one of the males tried to force his way into the house. The resident was able to fight off the subjects.”

The intruders then took off on foot. The husband suffered a minor injury during the altercation, Hodges said.
