I'm so glad the legislature is finally going to do something serious and will designate the Whoopie Pie as the official Maine dessert!
I can't tell you the number of hours I have paced the floor wondering if Blueberry pie or Blueberry cake would win out.
Heaven knows the Whoopie Pie is infinitely more popular than blueberries. Look at the industry!! Why Maine's Whoopie Pie industry dwarves the Blueberry industry hands down.
Not to mention the wonderful shortening based filling in Whoopie Pie is so good for you!
Yes I know the blueberry is already the state berry but the dessert made from them should also be the state dessert.
What's better than a piece of warm blueberry cake with a cinnamon crumb topping?
Let Pennsylvania have the whoopie pie.

Maybe we can steal Key Lime Pie from Florida

Blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup. *drool*

I confess to a thing that may get me banned from this forum. I have made my own versions of whoopie pies, one with whipped cream, another one with double devon cream (omg so rich), and the last with creamy buttercream frosting. I don't like the filling in regular whoopie pies. I'm sorry, don't hate me.

I met a fairy today that said she would grant me one wish.

"I want to live forever," I said.

"Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that!"

"Fine," I said, "then I want to die after the Legislature get their heads out of their butts!"

"You crafty bugger," said the fairy.
