Is anyone else as excited about 3 or more days when it may hit 40? This has been a very cold and snowy winter and this is just the break I need.

Ya know, I really wasn't because I am enjoying winter and skiing too much... but than last night I was looking through pictures from last year from Baxter to Bar Harbor to the lake down the road and all the green, kids frog catching, hiking, beautiful sailboats out in the water.... and I got SLIGHTLY excited for the milder temps.... I like every season for its own reason... so for now I'll keep enjoying the skiing but once it changes, I'll be excited again for something new!!

My wife was unhappy that we're not vacationing in MDI this year for the first time in 9 years.... But then I reminded her that we are moving there sometime in the next year so we can vacation there everyday for the rest of our lives.

Have you been to Lake Wood? Its just about 3/4 of a mile from my house on-island.

I don't think so. I'll have to look it up. Last year I went to Bar Harbor 3 times in just 1 week one of the weeks in the summer. I love just sitting on a bench and people watching there in summer, or staring off into the water. I'd love to explore even more places around there. Any links?

I'm with you, more or less. I am not ready for it to be time to start plowing and planting yet, not even ready for major plant starting time, though I know that is coming DARN CLOSE. But then we are still playing catch-up from our fall disasters.

I was away for part of this winter, did we actually see any one day with temps below record?

Was it honestly a colder than average winter so far? To me it does not feel like it has been.

Nope, it wasn't 'anything-er' than usual this winter, even down here. However, we DID get an awful lot of snow (and ice - the worst) seemingly all at once. The roof on one of our sheds down back gave way, and I was afraid the garage would follow suit, but it didn't (yet).

I, however, am ready for spring! I guess I've just spent too much time in physical therapy this past winter, and have "therapy-fever"! I just want to get out and walk and work and drive and do all I usually do. But the ice has been just horrible here this year, and DW worries that I'll slip and re-injure a knee. The ice is an inch to 1-1/2" thick in many places. The warm temps melt the snow during the day, and re-freezes at night when it gets cold again.

I think DW should go worry about some "old man" - not ME!
