Hi,

I got a job at Calais, ME and need to move asap from Texas. I tried to look for any apartments or home rental online and craigslists in Calais, ME area, I cannot find anything ( All give me 0 results on my search).

Is there anyone can give me information on apartments that I can called or where I can look for apartments to rent without having to go there?

Is there any website that I do not know that listed apartment rental or room to rent?

Thank you,

Ballow123

Check with the local newspaper, the Calais Advertiser.

Also, try calling some of the realtors in Calais. They may have a few leads or ideas.

Thank you for your help, it is so stressful to look for the apartments there online and I do not know how to get access to the local newspaper. I think I need to visit Calais to find the apartment or house there. If I visit Calais, do you guys think I can find any motel without reserve it?

I would imagine you could. No tourists for a while yet. Try calling the motels.

Much of Maine is not really into the "wired generation" yet. Most of the smaller newspapers do not have a web presence or, if they do, it is minimal at best.

Many of the towns don't even have a good web site. but when I googled Calais, Maine I found http://www.calaismaine.org/ and on that site is a navigation link for Area Information. That page includes a link for Rental Information which brings up a link for an Excel spreadsheet which lists 37 landlord by name and address. No phone numbers, but looking up their names in White Pages | Phone Number Lookup & People Search - AnyWho and cross-referencing with address should get you started.

Of course, ask each one you speak to -- if they don't have what you need -- for other numbers to call.

It may seem like a bit of work, but should get you started!

Good luck!

Thanks for the information, it was really helpful. I will try to call several people on the list for rental, and I will visit Calais, ME next week to look at the apartment.

I found my apartment already yesterday at Calais using the local newspaper, Calais Advertiser.

Also, i read an advertisement there yesterday about idea to open a gym there, I wonder if someone can send me the email address because I want to give my opinion also. I got back to Bangor already and I forgot the newspaper in my new apartment. I would appreciate for your help.

I may be looking for an apartment in Calais very soon. Can you give me any ideas where to start looking, and approximately how much a nice apartment rents for there?
Thanks

I think the thread already pretty much answers the question? If you need to see it again, you can always go back to the top and start over, as many times as you need to...that would certainly be much easier than having everyone re-post their answers.
