Does anyone have any familiarity with the St. Albans area? In particular, why the greatschools website ranks it lowest in the state? I guess this is based on just test scores, but I'd like to hear anyone's thoughts that has familiarity with either the school system or area in general. Is it a good area to raise kids?
I wouldn't raise kids in St.Albans. There are a few very nice homes on the lake but, other than that, it is a poor area (as is the surrounding area). I don't know anything specific about the schools, other than hearing a lot of people complain.
We looked at houses in St. Albans so I am familiar with the area...we bought a house in a different town.
I live about 8 miles from St. Albans, there is not much there, like Mainer61 said. Most homes are fair unless you can afford to live on the lake. I do not know about the schools but know two families with young children who live there. This area of Maine is poor - St. Albans, Hartland, Palmyra etc but it is fairly quiet and crime does not seem to be high.
there is a store at the foot of Indian lake, if, i wanted to know anything about st albans id call kevin d(owner) or his father Dick d. , theyd be good references to any questions
they have been there for years!!
