Anyone driving up Route 1 through Bridgewater should keep a lookout for "Lobster Roll" on the billboard sign in front of the pastery shop across the road from the Irving just north of Bridgewater. That shop is run by a group of Mennonites in Bridgewater. They usually have lobster rolls starting Wednesday and last as long as the lobster does. Sometimes they sell out the first day, sometimes not until Thursday or Friday. Cost is $10.49 and I guarantee you would be satisfied paying $25 for it if you were somewhere on the coast. I had one yesterday and there must have been a pound of lobster in that thing. All on homemade roll, it's something to behold. They also specialize in barbecue which is also exceptional. Don't judge the place by the spartan appearance of the building, you will miss out on something really special.

There were Mennonites in the Corinna area at least within the last three or four years. Absolutely wonderful people. I got to know them a little bit because the happened to frequent a business I was working at in Newport. They were always polite, thankful for anything you provided to them and honest as the day is long. I talked to a few of the women one day and they were going to be having a quilting circle later that week. The women rarely came in town alone, almost always with one of the men. If a woman came she always had a family member with her. Sweet, kind and always a welcome sight to me. I was fascinated with their life style and enjoyed their visits.

And even if they don't have the Lobster Roll sign out front, you should stop for the breads and pastries they sell. They have the best glazed donuts I have ever eaten in there.
