I see Maine speed limits raised to 75mph (120.7 k/h) does this apply to all highways or only large main roads? I guess one would look at posted signs eh?

Always read the signs. 75 is only legal on the interstate from north of Old Town, to Houlton.

You can look at the signs. In my experience, many people in Maine only view the speed limit sign on I-95 as suggestions.

So far - and only a few weeks after it was legal - one fatality on that stretch.

Cause of I-95 fatality still unclear, investigators say — Maine News — Bangor Daily News

It doesn't sound like she made any attempt at speed control as she drove off the road.

The main witness said she was driving like she had an impairing medical condition such as a stroke.

Looking at the picture of the wrecked SUV I am of the opinion that slowing to 65 rather than 75 wouldn't have made any difference in the outcome.

You're right, mensa, but it's definitly not just Maine. I've done the legal limit from here to Ga and S.C. quite a lot and been passed more than I pass others (rocketted past a few cars too; don't get me wrong). It's the state of mind in the country, IMO. We have to get to what's next first and fast. Standing at the microwave oven, looking at our watch, and tapping our foot impatiently.

Hey if you go the speed limit and not 10 mph over it - you save quite abit on gas.
