There was at least 4" on our porch when I left for work in Bangor at 5 AM. The road plows had been out -- once I would say by the look of it -- and it wasn't bad but I did slow down a bit heading into town. It was great watching the huge flakes fall in the headlights and I left 15 min early to allow for any issues.

By the time I got close to Bangor, there was no reason to go any more slowly as the snow wasn't as pretty and the roads had been cleared more by the increased traffic.

I got to work early, but my co-worker who commutes in from the Augusta area said that it was NOT fun coming in on 95 at that hour of the day and she was late due to having to slow down. She doesn't have an especially snow-friendly car or tires, though.

My other half said that we got at least 8" here, as it was near the tops of his boots when he did chores. but by the time I got back home at 3 you couldn't tell. There is still some on the field but the driveway is clear.

We are right outside Augusta, we got enough snow for my son to make a snow caterpillar! Lost power for awhile though.

We got about 4 inches of heavy wet snow in my part of Gorham. The willows were bent to the ground.

By the time I got outside at 9:00, there was an inch or two of heavy slush. Moving snow on top of pine needles proved to be challenging. When I got home from a client's house warming party there were fallen leaves on top of the snow, something I haven't seen before. It took all of about 3 minutes to help my 4 year old make her first snowman and go sliding on her new sled. I also had never used my lawn mower and snow blower within 18 hours of each other. Tomorrow night we'll go trick or treating. Bizarre.

I drove home from work smack in the middle of it.

Other than the fact that high beams are useless in snow blowing straight at you, and learning how to slide UP a hill is a fine art one eventually learns driving on the stuff after many years, I'd sum my travel up in one word:

"Yawn."

Okay, maybe 3 more:

"No big whoop."

BDN this morning reports Acton got 20 inches, and Bridgton 17.4. A record. My side of the lake got zero but ground is covered on the other side

they are bad at predicting snow here.. they almost always overpredict by about double, probably just covering their butts.. though occasionally they call for an inch and we'll get four...
