Cool and brisk. Then again, must be soaring into the 40's here. Indian summer?

Hardest frost yet in OH (Owls Head) this morning. NOAA says it's 30F now - 0730. But, like tinbender says, the days are forecast to warm nicely until later in the week; here, 50's, then 40's. I'm accepting this with gratitude!

The chard (unprotected) is still looking good; when it goes, I'll know the party's over. These cooler mornings are making the cockerels pretty frisky...

It was in the mid twenties here t his morning......I used the furnace for the first time to warm up the house.....up till now have been using a gas fireplace in the AM....that wasnt enough this morning.

I am still getting really pretty parsley out of the garden....at least I did up until last night....we will see how it fared....it has a habit of thawing out and looking just as or better.

Kale used to be our hardiest green.......being wonderful cut out of a deep snow bank.

I watch the Farm Report most Sunday mornings at 5 AM on Channel 7 out of Bangor. Today the long range forecast for the next 90 days in Northern New England is colder than normal and precipitation higher than normal. That gets us into early February. Over the years I have found the Farm Report weather forecasts to be very good indicators. They got the cold wet summer right about five years ago and we were having a beautiful warm May at the time.

Stop and think about this post around February 6. In fact, put it on your calendar. Just don't blame the messenger.

The therm. in the shade is registering 48 at 9:30. Sure hoping it will be 10 degrees warmer (at least) on Friday when we arrive in DC.
