Lynn and I are just two weeks away from our vacation/scouting jaunt to Maine. We are looking forward to our trip and checking out the areas that have piqued our interest in opening a pub/tavern. As of now the Orono, Belfast, Bar Harbor, Rockport and Freeport areas (and surronding communities) are at the top of list. If anyone has some insight to those areas, we would greatly appreciate any feedback. The two of us are looking for a sense of community that can support (and want) a 75-100 seat pub/tavern that offers a "Southern" flavor menu.

Thanks for any information you may have and we cannot wait to be there on a more permanent basis.

Lynn and Russ

Have you ever considered Washington County?
Our family recently moved here from MA.

How exciting!
My vote is for Belfast. When I was there this summer I noticed a few downtown building for sale or lease. Some great locations too. The Gothic building use to have a coffee shop, but they went out of business last year. Cool building, huh?

We leave Monday evening for our trip to Maine and are looking forward to it. We are staying Tuesday night in Orono and then travel to Ellington, Belfast and surrounding areas the next few days to get a feeling of the communities. If there are a couple of places we like, Lynn and I will return to those areas for a longer stay during our travels. We will head to Ogunquit on the 17th to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed there on our honeymoon 19 years ago.

So if you see a white Subaru Outback wagon with Pennsylvania liscense plates and a Navy sticker in the back window driving around, honk and wave, it will be the two of us.

C'mon Monday!!!!
Lynn and Russ

Don't miss Bar Harbor and the whole Acadia area. You've never seen such stunning beauty! Get plenty of photos and come back and post them for us, please.

75-100 seat pub with southern style cooking? I would lean toward Orono due to UMO being there. You cannot discount the student cash flow and desire for a taste of either something different, or something familiar. Southerners looking for a taste of home, or other students looking to expand their tastes. Plus you may just hit the right combination to appeal to both locals and students.
