Looking for ideas and advice. We have an opportunity to spend 3 days anywhere with in driving distance from our Queens NY home. We are off Saturday Dec 3 thru Monday Dec 5. We would like to visit coastal Maine. We are looking for a coastal town that has a few decent moderately priced restaurants and hotels or a bed and breakfast. We will bring our well behaved dog.

Thank You

How far up the coast do you plan to go? It's a very long coastline. It can take up to 8 or 9 hours to go the whole way up. This website may help you out: Home - Maine Office of Tourism I like using it and found it quite helpful. Hope you enjoy and have a good time.

I would check out Ogunquit, as it has good restaurants and Jonathan's I believe has live entertainment year round. Just be aware that December is low season on the coast so call ahead. Especially to see if where you want to stay is dog friendly. It is quite a long drive from Queens to Southern Maine. Perhaps you might like to stay on the North Shore up around Glouster, MA. Portsmouth NH is a great little city too and Strawberry Bank there is a great attraction at Christmas season. Restaurants to check out in Portsmouth are "The Library" and Molly Malone's.

I was living across the river in Eliot on the Piscataqua River when that Strawberry Bank was built. It was really quite the attraction then. I haven't thought of it or been there in quite a while. As you mentioned, I'll bet the xmas light display wouild be very nice there.
