Yes that is me, and you are too kind.

That photo was from a couple years ago, about a year after I retired from the Navy. My beard is a bit longer now.

Yes Mainebrokerman, there is Honor in all work , but fulfillment must come from within for in todays world Work is Not Honored. The Worker does not benifit from his / her Labors. S/he is loosing ground year after year. This isent just Maine or the coasts, it's all over America. It's been going on now for 30 years.

I have nothing good to say about the Lewiston area's job market, spent 7 months there, worked a short stint at a 'big apple' and was treated very badly. Was told I was 'not a Mainer' by locals and didn't fit in for that reason...even the career center guy told me being from out of state was a negative on my applications. talk about discrimination...
Sorry to be so negative here
but I had to 'get out of Dodge' after my money ran out.

The job market in Maine sucks for a few reasons...some of it can be helped some of it can't. First of all, no one wants to move a business to a state where it's cold and snows for 6-8 months of the year. But the bigger problems is how the liberal democrats have made this state the highest taxed state in the nation. When you have high taxes across the board it creates a very anti-business climate and therefore no jobs.

When taxes go up companies trim their budgets to make up for the money they pay in the Baldacci. The way most companies trim their budgets is by laying off workers, cutting or not paying a good wage, and cutting other benefits.

The other problem is with the high fuel prices which are adding to the woes. While fuel prices hurt people and businesses throughout the country it's worse here in New England because with the cold air we use more fuel for heating. So there is no real hope for the job situation in Maine.

Because maybe it is following right along with the rest of the nation.

Jobs suck everywhere because you have to work. A four-letter-word.

Wow, I would hate to live there.

Where is this place you speak of?

I have lived very near to the Arctic circle, and I now live down South here in Maine, I do not know where it would snow so much. Even moving up North it gets sunny at times.

So where is this place that you hate so much?

Not again.

Okay fine.

What tax; which one is the highest in the nation?

It is not income tax. It is not property tax. It is not sales tax. It is not fuel taxes. It is not tobacco tax.

If there is no single tax that is the highest in the nation, then fine, which four combined taxes are the highest in the nation?

Since we have discussed this before, and you still can not find any four taxes which combined would be the highest in the nation, how about twenty taxes?

Which twenty taxes, when combined manage to add up to be the 'highest group of taxes in the nation'?

You have made this claim before.

I have challenged you on this before.

Stop your whining!

If you truly do not like Maine then leave.

I have offered to buy you a bus ticket. I will even help you to pack a bag.

pete, forgive me for saying this, but if you were my son, id kick you in the ass,

the time and effort you spend complaining and blaming the rest of the world,,you could be making short and long improvement goals for yourself!!

its a brand new year, time for a fresh attitude!!

one thing ive learned in life is,,youve got to be your own best cheerleader (without being arrogant) and you create your own opportunities and circumstances, not wait for others to do so!!

and learn from your mistakes,,,, dont buy what you cant afford, be humble, and the last bit of advice,,,is we mirror ourselves in our attitudes, meaning how we think of ourselves is mirrored of how others view us,,,so if you are doom and gloom,,,, people around you pick up on that negative energy,,and so do employers.
who wants to be around a stick in the mud??

steer your own ship,,,dont wait for the current to take you!!

good luck pete, and looking forward to your new, better attitude,,,!!!

bitching solves nothing, so quit yer complaining (a favorite saying of a family member)

I'll chip in $10 so he can get some peanut-butter crackers and soda during the ride.
