It just occured to me that some of the women on the Maine City-Data might be interested in this wonderful program I have attended, off and on, since 1989. Check out their web site and if you have more questions just ask me. www.womenscamp.us Our next weekend is going to be January 6 - 8. I think I will be attending, if the driving co-operates.

Some of my friends and I have been doing something like this for years, only we hold it at one or another's country home. Some years I can't make the three day event because of budget or scheduling constraints.

Correction - our winter week-end this year falls on February 3 - 5.

tcrackly - I kind of like this one because there are always new people there as well as the longtimers. I have never spent more than $65 for the 2 nighters and that includes all meals too. The Bridgton, ME one is held at the Girl Scout site - Pondicherry - so that keeps the expenses low.

I LOVE weekends like that! I went to Camp Caribou with BOW last summer and a private camp with friends. We had a lot of fun both weekends in spite of 30something degree morning showers in open, unheated buildings. It's all part of the fun!

I can't go this February but would love to go later in the year.

I have no idea if there are such places for men, but I agree they can use a break too. This is NOT a business, it just barely covers expenses - no one profits except for the atendees who go home refreshed.

I'm very interested and printed it out to read it leisurely.

Personally I have a problem in that weekends are when I work. I would like to have gone to Appalation Mountain Club events over the years but they, too, are always weekends.

Clarissa - the summer camp one doesn't fall totally on the weekend. I believe most years runs from Tuesday to Tuesday with the only request being that you try to attend for a 3 night minimum.
