Portland, ME is the #2 best city for men to meet eligible women.

Most eligible women:
1. Washington, DC
2. Portland, ME
3. Boston, MA
4. Seattle, WA
5. New York, NY

That's pretty good company in the top 5.

IIRC, Higher education and gainful employment were both part of the criteria. Cities with lots of hospital jobs would make sense.

This doesnt surprise me one bit- maine woman come from a long line of good sturdy stock- good cooks, good workers, good warmth on a cold night, excellent mothers, good hunters-why wouldnt they be in high demand??

who wants a woman who is as thin as a greyhound,(complains about everything) and cant even carry wood in the house??

'Sturdy stock', good teeth, wide hips, sounds like good criteria to me.

That's the criteria they used to determine what women are "eligible"?

Well, higher education ruins a woman (or is it because of the kind of woman who pursues higher education? Probably both).

But I guess if you needed a woman who works you'd have to put up with it.
