Except for this year of course. The non-winter everywhere in the central Atlantic to The Northeast.

Retiredtinbender, it is definitely a humbling moment when someone thanks me. Thank you as well for your service to our country. An experience that has taught me many lessons. Foremost, not to take everyone and everything we hold dear for granted. And one of the reasons I would like to make this move happen. You mentioned other great towns that don't get as crowded. Can you elaborate please. Thank you.

Redgoast, your honesty is greatly appreciated. It is good to get a perspective from someone who experienced it as a teen. This is a concern of mine. I was born in NYC where I was exposed to just about anything you can imagine in terms of culture. NYC is a great place and has so much to offer. But in my own humble opinion, it is a great place to experience, but not such a great place to raise a family. My husband was born in a small town in Texas where family and the sense of community is strong. That is what I am looking for in Maine. That and I want my children to experience first hand why I fell in love in Maine.

Brooklin comes to mind. That whole area is nice down there. And close to MDI. Then on the other side of Rt 1 from MDI. Not a well known fact that Rt 1 goes past Ellsworth (facetiousness). Lots of nice towns on the coast that don't get too bad with the crowds.

Isn't that crazy? In Bar Harbor there is no snow at all and the roads are dry as a bone. We have had nothing all winter. I have shoveled twice and not used any ice melter.

Mainegrl2011, thank you sooo much for the info you provided. And thank you for taking the time to even do some research. Very thoughtful. I have not formally searched for jobs yet as i am currently looking into obtaining my physical therapy license in Maine first. You have given me much to think about... I'm curious, where did you find the info on the home rentals? Again, thank you...

Thanks again retiredtinbender. I will definitely look into those towns and will keep an open mind before making such a big decision and such a big move with my family. And thanks to all who took the time to respond. You all have been very helpful.
