And the important thing to know about his job is that until they get toned out for a call, they all just sit around playing poker and watching TV. Hardly what I consider 'working hard'!
Not me! I won't see him most of that time. Sometimes he works a 24 here, goes straight to the next county and works 24 there and then right back here for another shift. This time, it just so happens he's alternating between the two for 5 days straight. I think he'll be home 1 of those nights. Get's pretty lonely - and there's only so much you can talk about with 2,5 & 6 year olds!
I'm sure he appreciates the vacation from me sometimes! If he were here, he'd REALLY be working!
Isn't that a bit dangerous, or does he get to sleep while he's on the clock?
Oh, yes, they sleep. Anytime after 1pm, they can go to the bunkroom and sleep all day and through the night if they want. They have a nice facility at both counties he works with - beds, lockers, nice big showers. Just like a second home for them.
