Can you advise on what areas are the most beautiful, besides the coast. I can't afford the coastal towns for this purchase. What do you think of bangor??

When a person lives where everything is taken care of for you, people tend to be come dependent on things being taken care of. For example, if you live where the power never goes out, then you become accustomed to the power never going out. On the other hand, if your power goes out every month, with every storm, then you become accustomed to power only being available sometimes.

'Disaster' is relative. What makes a 'disaster' for one, might not even be noticed by another.

A bit of snow on the pavement? One person drops his plow blade and drives on. Another person might get worried.

A blow-down across the road? Some people see that and think more free firewood, chainsaws appear, chips fly, soon the roadway is clear, everyone is happy. Another person sees a tree across the road and is blocked.

Find a job first. Move there and rent. After your located here, then you can explore the state and find which region you like the most.

I see this website getting a lot of "play" on CD: ServingSchools.com

Have you ever been to Maine? A few visits is a good idea, too. Good luck to you in your search.

Nice area, good towns. Lots of small towns with lakes etc and interesting places to go see. 2 hours closer to the rest of the country than I am.

Good luck on your searching. (I always look at that sentence and worry that it sounds snide and sarcastic. Meant sincerely. )
