maine senior college network home

There are 17 organizations all over Maine that provide great fun, classes without grades, and socializing. I am familiar with the Downeast Senior College in Ellsworth, and the Acadia Senior College on MDI.

Lots of stuff to do especially in the winter.

Yes, many things. Along with your list, some places have dance classes, dances, nature hikes and kayaking expeditions. A lot of winter activities both outside (if your able) and inside. Cultural events even in the small towns and villages. Great place to be, isn't it?

My wife is on her third class. Last year she had one on music appreciation taught by a famous pianist from Castine, one on singing old campfire songs, one on cooking. This year she is already taking one on Native Americans in Maine. I took one on "the nature of consciousness". We are being encouraged to teach one, but most of my hobbies are pretty weird so I don't think anyone, especially geezers, would really be interested. There are also at least three major parties each year, and lots of drinking. Geezers love to drink.

People said when I got older I would lose my mind. What they didn't tell me was that I wouldn't notice its absence.

I resemble that remark. I'll have to steal that for personal use. WIth proper credit given, of course. The more I read it the more I like it.

Getting old(er) has been the best thing that's ever happened to me

The older i get, the weirder i get - and the less i care.

Good thread, and thanks for the info about the classes etc.
