Every time I have to back to Mid Atlantic States, Like for Christmas, I am amazed by the extent of the rude drivers. In Maine 99% of the drivers take care of the other drivers. I found PA and New Hampshire to be the worst tailgaters. How pick-up truck drivers think that its good practice to tailgate in snow is beyond me. In NH I had this one dude, in an Expedition who came up out of nowhere and got about 2 feet from my rear bumper on my Subaru Impreza---at about 55 mph. I got off the road, and then watched him speed ahead and do the same to the next car. Some in a pickup in PA did exactly the same thing.

As soon I was in Maine, as I was trying to get out of the parking lot in the Belfast McDonalds, some nice lady waiting to get in, let me go quick before the people from the light got there, and sacrificed her getting in at that spot. Only in Maine.

On I 93? I don't miss driving on that highway. There's no elbow room, yet cars consistantly go 70-80 miles an hour and there are far too many tailgaters, heading to and from MA.

Apparently, they missed the signs which so clearly state: "Drive Courteously, It's the New Hampshire way."

Maine certainly has the most courteous drivers I have ever seen (with Vermont a very close second).

Whenever I'm in Maine, I am super, over the top courteous, just to make up for the other NY drivers...

Well, thanks for ruining my fun, slyfox. I thought we were going to bond over this.

And lol at NS4life. I'd recommend peeling off any Yankees decals or bumperstickers too.

Good sir, I am Mets fan, ally to the Red Sox. I hate the Yankees more then you can imagine, at least you guys have a couple World Series lately. I was in Bangor in 2004 when the Sox beat the Yanks after being down 0-3 in the ALCS, that was a great time.

The only sticker on my car is the "ME" one.

Ahem...That's ma'am.

I moved back to New England in 2004....I like to think that the Sox were waiting for me. It sure was fun, wasn't it?! Nothing will ever top it.

DOH, apologies ma'am.

Hopefully they can bounce back from last year. Blue Jays are the best chance to beat the yanks in 2013.

Those who think Maine drivers are so nice have never tried to drive a tractor trailer here.

My brother from Dover drives a tractor trailer in and around New England. He drove with me from Sacramento to central Maine a couple years ago. He was appalled at how the truckers drove all throughout the country. I can hear him still as he commented about the stupid things they did on the highways.

I've driven a car, pickup with trailer and my motorcycle coast to coast several times over the past few years. Maine seems to drive like the rest of the country and will get out of the number one lane after they've passed a car. In Cali, drivers park in the left lane and most passing is done in the number two and three lanes. It is really noticeable. The only good thing about getting back in Cali is that you can split lanes when riding a motorcycle. Fun stuff.

I think Maine drivers are very good compared to the rest. Good on you.
