Well..... those were the old days.

Now, I have a natural gas monitor heater in the living room that heats my entire house and a natural gas tankless water heater which is about the size of a large VCR. Its located in the closet.

They both work great and I've never spent a dime on either of them in 5 years. Though the gas tank is outside in the back of the house its easy for the truck to pull up with its hose, pop the cover and fill er up. The gas company keeps the tank topped off, i dont even have to call them..

My gas bill runs me about $50 month in the winter and $15 month in the summer

399083453, do you live in the cold climate area?. we were consider gas tankless water heater since we did not have basement or garage, it become more complicated to vent out gas fume, and wife not sure if it will make enough hot water for what we need.

I do like the idea it is small in size, wonder the electric one would work the same.

I live in Maine. Cold enough? Hehe.

I heard the electric ones use a ton of electricity. I dont know the specs. The gas one was cheaper and I already used gas so it was a good fit. Venting was not an issue, vents outside with a 1-2" pipe. Looked pretty simple, but I had it installed by a professional.

By the way, europe, japan and other nations oversea have been using tankless water heaters for decades. Pretty hard to find a hot water tank in europe. Its not a new technology.

The caveat to the tankless water heater is that you can't install it in an enclosed area, such as a closet or a very small room like a bathroom. If you don't have a basement or garage you might have to put it in a location where it will be visible.
