I'm planning a honeymoon in Maine. We're from NC and love the outdoors. Some beach, some woods, and perhaps a night or two in a cool city. Where would you suggest?

Boothbay Harbor is worth a look. I agree probably for very young couple Old Orchard Beach as the beach is great and it has that amusement park. It's not too far from Portland for some decent restaurants.

I agree, start at Boothbay Harbor for a few days. Then head up to Bar Harbor (3-4 hours away).

All great suggestions. If you're driving, stop at Old Orchard first, then on to Boothbay Harbor, then on to Bar Harbor. If I could only choose one or only had time for one, I would choose Bar Harbor so I could also visit Acadia National Park. Have fun!

Cool City - Portland

Beaches - Popham and Reid State Parks for quiet rugged beauty........Old Orchard Beach and Ogunquit for "sandy" beaches (with crowds!)

Woods - Hiking in Camden Hills State Park and Acadia National Park

Other "neat" places........Boothbay Harbor, Rockland, Belfast

I really enjoy York Beach and Popham state park for beaches, OOB is kind of tacky. But I really like Boothbay harbor and Bar harbor.

Yeah...sort of. Certainly not my idea of honeymoon or romantic.

Good start here...
