I purchased a condo under the pretense the owners were selling the remainding units (2). The x-wife have since decided to buy one herself. I would never have purchased. Is this legal.

Please see the Terms of Service for this site. Posters are not allowed to ask for legal advice. You'd do far better to consult an attorney experienced in real estate law, and I'm sure several posters here could recommend someone to you if you give a general idea of your location.

If you did not have a contract in place for the remaining units, then you likely have no leg to stand on. What you *thought* they might do is probably irrelevant, people are entitled to change their minds, ramifications of so-called 'verbal contracts' notwithstanding. You need to seek a real lawyer, not anonymous posters on a message board.

***Disclaimer:
I am not a lawyer, though I have played one in court a number of times (and usually won).

zymer is right

even if you had something in writing, it probably wouldnt be valid

unless it is an owner-occupied 5 units or less lease/rental, the fair housing laws are applicable, which they take very serious- all minorities/handi-caps/ religions/ familial status (kids) you cannot discriminate when selling
