The Moxie Festival was held this weekend in Lisbon Falls. It was the 31'st annual event. I learned today that the company was purchased by a Maine beverage distributor so after all these years Moxie has come home to Maine where it originated. This is good news because the convoluted system of bottling and distribution rights limited bottle sizes. For a while we had to smuggle in our 2 liter bottles from NH.

So, who purchased it?

Did you have any Moxie ice cream while you were there?

This Connecticut native tried a 20 ounce bottle when he last visited Portland in February of 2012. I didn't seem to like it too much.

Well, was it ice cold and did you drink at least three good drinks (preferably a couple of glasses)?

Have you ever liked an ADULT beverage at first taste? Moxie used to be the most popular soft drink in the country, so it has to be good!!!!!!! Just give it some time. As I said earlier, start with it ice cold and just take sips. It's actually weaker than it used to be.

I used to coon hunt with a friend that would drink Moxie(when he could find it) mixed with some whiskey, eat pickled eggs and pickled tripe all night. I didn't care how cold it got, my window was ALWAYS rolled down!
