I have been back to Maine for about 2 years after living on the west coast for 23 years. I am putting my camp up for sale shortly and returning sometime back to Ca. I have had enough of boredom and crappy weather. Not to mention the high cost to live here and the awful economy. Don't mean to discourage you, just saying it isn't working for me............

how i envy your move to Maine...the quiet perfect life.

When you arrive, please go to Two Lights in Cape Elizabeth, order a lobster roll. Sit out on the benches and look out to the ocean. Listen to the gulls, hear the tide and smell the ocean.

You just found home.

Wow......I am considering moving to ME....as opposed to back to MA. I have been away from New England for 10 yrs....and am also in Calif. You sound like me as I cannot wait,,,,,to get the H*** out of here. My kids were brought here (to CA) and now I feel like they are Californicated (pardon the expression). I am trying to be very polite on this board with my negative comments about CA. When you have nothing but negative things to say....it is time to leave. I cannot talk about MA, Boston or anything about New England to anyone here.....they just look at me with blank stares. Not their fault, they just have not experienced East, or New England......but it does not help that I am so home sick and cannot get over it.
San Diego.....seems sooo dull to me, and I am in burb of Los Angeles ....

Good luck and it is nice to hear someone that feels the same, that is because we are not natives of CA. I cannot wait for the snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean I am serious......I said last Christmas, it would be my last as it was almost 80 degrees. HOW depressing.

Been back now for 3 1/2 weeks. Transitioned to my job- a lateral move with same employer. Getting familiar with South Portland.
When I lived in Maine 19 years ago, S Portland was not viewed so favorably. Now it is a destination area to live in with its beaches, accessibility to Portland, and green zone walking paths.
My room rental situation is a bit precarious- let us hope for the best!
So happy to be here- no regrets! Hope,to,have the opportunity to meet fellow cd'ers in the area. Let me know when you are in S Portland!
