I ordered a coffee yesterday with "regular" sugar.. I meant the amount, you know not extra ect.. well she thought I meant granular. She explained they use a liquid sweetener generally unless you ask them for regular sugar.. Something I did not know but am happy to know now!

That's interesting. I always just ask for one sugar on the side. Speaking of 'regular, ' try asking for a 'regular' coffee at different places. It's surprising that so many young employees think you mean size, not cream and sugar.

As far as the new MD's, if you go to the bigger places you'll find they are built so they can contain large children play areas. So the front of them look like gyms. I guess they are may be building some that way in Maine so we can bring our grand-children in there!

As to the coffee, I find it very difficult to get them to not put the "milk syrup" (probably high fructose corn syrup) in the coffee. What I've been trying lately is: "a little milk and absolutely no sugar." That's been working. They tend to overdo the milk unless I specify that I only want a little. Out of state, many employees are English language challenged and it doesn't matter WHAT you tell them. I've even tried telling them I diabetic (which I'm not), and it's still loaded with the syrup.

Quite frankly, the Bangor area McDonalds are the worst ones that I've seen in the state.

Wow. How can they stay in business if they decide how you like your coffee? I"m very picky with mine. Here you tell them exactly how many sugars or sweeteners and how much creamer and they give you the option of putting it in for you or dropping it in a bag. :/ I guess if we do move McD's coffee is off my list of thing I can enjoy. Bummer.

I can't speak for all the additives, but if all you want is a plain black coffee, McDonald's has the best coffee of any chain in the United States. The put Starbucks to shame.

Yes, McDonald's has great coffee--and cheap! I just ask for stuff on the side and it's fine. I usually drink it black, though. mrs1885, you won't have to give it up.

mcdonalds use to have any size coffee for a 1.00, but the last two i went in,,,doesnt offer it anymore.

but they do have a medium iced coffe for a dollar,,

i guess if you want hot for a dollar, you could ask for iced coffee, and "hold the ice"
i got a funny look, but she did it..

I remember back a while ordering an "iced" coffee at the Union St. McDonalds and it came with cream or milk. I said I wanted black and she said "That's the way it comes". lol
