Hi all,

I'm moving to Rockland at the end of the month and I am trying to find a great cable provider for internet and TV only, no phone service. When I do a search Time Warner comes up but so does Dish and Comcast. Does anyone know the most stable of the providers?

Also, I have to set up an electric account on the house and I know Central Maine Power provides the basic electric service but who is THE MOST reliable for the electricity itself?

I hope I'm asking this all correctly. Thanks for your feedback, assistance, and help!

Don't think it matters who is reliable. Never had a problem unless lines go down in a storm.

I have Time Warner for internet at my house in South Portland. My parents use Roadrunner. Roadrunner internet is easily slow.

I have had excellent service from Time Warner Cable. They have an office right in Rockland.

CMP for electricity.

Welcome in advance to Rockland!

Direct tv? Satellite? I like it better than cable.

Thank you Lord Squid, Maureen and slyfox! I've done a search on this forum and the replies were all a couple of years old so I wanted to see if anything had changed. Doesn't look like it! Thanks again!

I live close to Rockland. We have Dish Network right now, but will switch back to Directv once our contract is up. Directv customer service seems to be a lot better. For internet we use Fairpoint. We've been very happy with them. CMP for electric and we have Electricity Maine for a supplier. Good luck and welcome to midcoast Maine!

We have Time Warner for Internet. We used to have cable through them as well then went to Directv. Both are good. We decided that we don't watch enough tv to pay for cable or satellite. We j
Watch Netflix and HULU+ through the Internet. Also, Comcast is not in this area. Not sure why it came up for you. CMP is the power company. There are no other choices. There is Electricity Maine but that's a service, you are still getting power through CMP. You may be able to get a better rate. Good luck and welcome to the area. We are just down the road in Owls Head.

Thanks so much lovemaine and DLW, and thanks for the welcome from all. DLW you are right CMP is power I just wondered what every one used as their Service There are like pages of those service providers on the Maine gov site explaining it all but how would you know?

What about oil suppliers? Is it easier to convert to propane?

Thanks all! See you soon!

Hello again! We use Maritime Oil, Maritime Energy • Maritime Farms | Rockland, ME. There's also Fabian and Webber Energy Fuels. I'm sure I'm missing some but these are off the top of my head. I'm sure others will be able to list more. Some people will convert to propane. It's a personal choice and I understand it can be pricey to do so. My husband and I looked into it when we remodeled our house last winter and it just wasn't in our budget.
