Pick out the areas you may like, do a google maps to find all the roads in the area, then do some serious research on those areas. What may be just fine for us, may not meet your expectations at all. Anywhere in Maine will not be crowed. I'd stay out of the built up areas by your criteria.

comparably, maine has little to no air pollution
maine is 93% trees


only in Portland,might you considerate a "city" , and even then Portland has parks and suburbs-not a concrete jungle

most of maine is very peaceful, in fact some people consider it very boring up here because it is so peaceful,,, but some of us appreciate- boring..
