Hello Mainers and city-data users. I posted on this forum about a month ago about relocation and things are looking good on coming to Maine. Will be coming to Maine for a 1 week visit to look around Portland, Westbrook, Gorham, Yarmouth, Lewiston, and Standish areas on house hunting and neighborhood trip.

I think Portland has a Sea Dog microbrewery. There will be a difference in the cost as you get further away from Porland in real estate. Of the places you mention, Lewiston may be the least costly. If it were me, I would go for Yarmouth as it is close to Portland and also on the coast. Hope you find something you like.

Thanks for the info on the microbrewery. Yarmouth I know has some of the most expensive homes. Lewiston I have heard conflicting information on the area. I know it is cheaper there for houses but someone informed me that's where many refugees and blue collar workers are.
Any views on the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston as a place of employment?

Good luck, Familyman. Yeah, one of the most challenging (but also most rewarding) aspects of moving somewhere doing the pre-moving groundwork. There is a lot of brewery-related stuff up there too, which is a big plus for me as well.
