According to the election results of 2012 Piscataquis County was the only county to go Red.
Are the Republicans more like a Tea Party, or a socially liberal, fiscally conservative??

I'm a former Republican, former Democrat, currently confused/unaffiliated at the moment.
But I've always gotten along with both parties because I sort of consider myself a bit of both.
I was curious to see a county in Maine actually go Red and thought I pose the question.
New England always had a hardy strong "Rockefeller" Republican base that I've always loved. But rarely do counties ever go red in national elections.
Massachusetts have lots of old school Republicans, but never vote red for Presidents. Same with Vermont, etc.
Yes there is NH, but they are this interesting mix of those free-staters moving in and tea partiers.

So back to my question: How are the Republicans in Piscataquis County??

I'm not the biggest fan of the Maine governor IMHO

They are good, honest and hard working people. Not only was Piscataquis County the only county in Maine to go Republican, they were the only county in New England! They mind their own business and don't try to force their principles on anybody else.

They still found themselves voting for the bonds.. It has become almost laughable as all I hear from people is the frustration with how bonds are always passed in this state but yet they still continually pass..

This thread is veering towards being locked (especially with the last comment).

Piscataquis is quite conservative. Most of the more rural counties (Washington, Aroostook, Somerset, Franklin) are almost as conservative as Piscataquis.
