Well, maybe not on record but this evening Channel 8 in Portland said that this winter, starting this Wednesday is going to begin a long bitter cold winter. The forecaster said the frigid weather is going to be sustained for 3 months solid and temps are going to be well below normal. Portland area is going to get some light snow Thursday and if we get any kind of accumulation it's going to really drop the overnight lows which are already forecast to be nearing the single numbers in Portland. The daytime highs for the next ten days are predicted to be in the low 20s for the next 10 days and he said it's only going to get worse from there.

He said that once the oil companies figure out this forecast the oil prices are going to be going through the roof even worse than they are now. So much for global warming. The reason for the frigid weather is the lack of hurricanes this year didn't warm up the ocean waters so the waters are colder than normal and therefor we can expect a bone chilling cold winter.

Maybe we can get Al Gore to come up here and open his mouth so the hot air from him will at least cause local warming lol! Otherwise the best option is a 3 month trip to Florida.

There is a reliable source. The same guy who can't get the next 24 hours right usually, trying for a 90 DAY forecast. I'll break out the shorts and t-shirts if this is accurate as usual.

Al Gore can blow wind out his ... Oh, nevermind.

National Weather Service says the winter will be slightly above average in temperature and well above average in precipitation. For Northern Maine, that's a lot of snow. We're due. The last 3 winters have been very easy and the large deer herd shows it.

Snowmobilers and folks who plow snow for a living will rejoice. The sticker on my Kubota says, "I put snow where it belongs."

The latest winter weather predictions from the NOAA
http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories...07_midsize.jpg

Seems like Maine should have an 'average winter' temperature wise.
Precipitation- looks average as well

The rest of New England should average slightly warmer then normal, with south coastal New England having above average precipitation.

Default warming

global warming does not mean that the weather is necessarily warmer. it can cause extreme weather fluctuations though, which i think we can all agree, is happening. whether or not we agree, this is relatively agreed upon in the scientific world -- gore or no gore (i actually haven't seen his movie on the subject) the question is why it's happening not IF it is happening. i don't mean to offend, but this sentiment is something howie carr and the like try to spin and it is just not correct.
