I sure messed up the spelling of Maine in my post! Can't wait to get the cataracts fixed.

Anyway, I was thinking it would be hard to break into that circle if we moved to a small town but do like the idea. We live in a condo and some neighbors really stick their nose in your business trolling for gossip. I would rather spend time with the cat. My DH worked until 70 so he isn't ready to move but I've been ready for years. California's plan for us older folks is to tax us to death so Maine is way ahead of us.

Heidi, get out of Kalifornia right away! I can tell you that the folks in northern Maine are very nice! DW and I are in our mid-60s and have had no trouble making new connections and friends up here. When we need help, we ask for it; when we can help others, we do. People are people everywhere, and good people are welcome anywhere!

We are very glad that we moved to Maine for our retirement.
