Kind of hard to find quality applicants when the salary is so low. And we wonder why he plays into special interests? He'd hoping to make some decent money with one of them when he leaves office.
Bull. Over 20 years ago, when McKernan was Governor, he was remunerated in excess of $300,000.00 per year. You count ALL of the personal enrichment benefits, including housing. In LePage's case, another $65K+ should be added for his daughter's "advisor" job. And it's all about power anyway, not about the pay scale. Once in the club, the cash continues flowing with little effort. Pick an ex governor. Anyone out there in the poor house? Now, what's the pay scale of a Philadelphia schoolteacher?

Governor of Maine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

$70K according to this. Don't know what other perks he gets. His daughters salary has nothing to do with what he gets paid.

Teacher with masters degree get 69K in phili.

It remains Bull. $70K may be the salary, but I recall in the 1990's a totalling of all gubernatorial remuneration, benefits, perks, auto, personal travel, housing in the Blaine house, maids, butlers, meals, insurances, etc., etc. and it was in excess of $300,000.00. That was 20 or more years ago. Your teachers with masters degrees get all that? Can they hand their daughter a $42K a year job with bennies that bring the total cost to the taxpayer (including a retirement plan, medical benefits, etc.) to nearly $70K a year? His daughter's salary, and other family benefits (he has other family on the State payroll) weigh heavily into the remuneration. Baldacci did the same thing.
