I've Been Considering Moving To Farmington For A While Now ( About 15 Months ) And Yeah... Here's The Thing Though, I've Never Been To, Well Lived In, A Rural Place, EVER! Born Less Than 10 Miles From NYC And Still Living Here. So I Just Wanted Your Thoughts On Whether Or Not This Is A Good Idea... Thanks!

you'll be fine!!

Farmington is a decent college town,

if you go up the road to Rangeley, or sugarloaf, there's a good chance you can see a moose and its beautiful country up there

Farmington is a rural college town. Before committing to a place so different from where you've always lived, I'd spend a couple vacations there, one in the Summer and one in the Winter. Before moving here, I'd be sure to have a job here. Before buying a house here, I'd live here for awhile to make sure you like it.

I had not been to Farmington since 1986 but visited this past October. I was surprised to see that there had been a lot of development in the past ~25 years, with big box stores, car dealerships and fast food restaurants on the roads heading in to town. I think Farmington would have what most folks need. I hope you like snow! Anyways, it's less than 2 hours to Portland!

Great small feel town with all the amenities in the outlying parts of town. Nice.
