Lol I know exactly what you mean about brown by May. That is just so sad. And 80's for the summer high sounds like a dream compared to 97-112 degrees! We are in such a severe drought that where I live has had about 1 1/2 inches of rain for the whole year. I really miss rain and green.

It's weird but everyday of sun and heat for about 5-6 months a year almost seems depressing. It's just too much. When we get partly cloudy I feel like there's more pep in my step : )

Where I grew up in NM, people many dollars a month trying to keep lawns green, and it was usually a losing battle. In Maine, our lawn is green year-round (even under the snow), and we have never once had to water the lawn.

The downside to that is that you do have to be on the lookout for ticks in spring and summer, but as long as you're careful and attentive, it really isn't a huge deal. I'll take an occasional tick over the rattesnakes, scorpions, and swarms of houseflies.

Here's an article on the 25 best things about living in Maine. Most of them are funny because they're true.

Thank you for that link Mark S.! It was very amusing while also being informative lol. I especially liked numbers 7 and 12. So you would say most of those are true?

Also I can't even imagine never having to water my lawn and it still being green. We water and it's still yellowing and wilty looking most of the year. It will have some greener areas but if we skip even a few days in the summer then that's it.

I moved to NorCal and lived there for around 23 years. Lived in a small town, Woodland. Loved it there.....an hour to the snow or an hour to the Pacific. I moved back here(near where I grew up) in 2011 after losing my wife to cancer. I truly miss California weather but not the high cost of living. Funny, I lived in Bakersfield for four LONG months.....hated that city!
Someday I plan on getting a small RV and travelling back to Woodland for a visit....we'll see!?

#1? Not so much. More of a stereotype than true. The rest ... yeah, I see it.
